Manage studies
For certain designs it may be appropriate to have several different studies associated with each design. In order to manage these different studies effectively, Creo Elements/Direct Finite Element Analysis enables you to modify and delete existing studies.
When you want to modify a study for a part, make the necessary changes to the analysis information in the study (delete or apply different loads and/or boundary conditions, set a different analysis type, or a new material, for example) and then rename it using the Name button in the Study group.
To modify a study name,
1. Click FEA and then, in the Study group, click Name.
2. Specify the study using one of the following ways:
3. Using the Structure Browser.
Enter the name of the study in the user input line including double quotes and the path name, - for example, "/p1/study1".
Click on one of its LBC or mesh conditioning symbols (if available).
Enter the new name of the study in the user input line including double quotes, - for example, "study2".
4. Click to complete the procedure.
To delete a study,
1. Click FEA and then, in the Study group, click Delete or DeleteComb.
2. Specify the study or studies using one of the following ways:
Using the Structure Browser.
Enter the name of the study in the user input line including double quotes and the path name. - for example, "/p1/study1".
Click on one of its LBC or mesh conditioning symbols (if available).
3. Probe can be used to select hidden LBC or mesh conditioning symbols.
4. Repeat the procedure for any other studies to be deleted. (The Select dialog box can also be used to select multiple studies.)
*
If you delete a combined study, both studies in the combined study are deleted.
To copy a study,
You can use the Copy button to make a copy of a study. The new study can be owned by the source part or assembly. It is not possible (nor does it make sense) for a study to be owned by a different part.
1. Click FEA and then, in the Study group, click Copy. The Copy dialog box opens.
2. If necessary, specify the source study to copy by first clicking Study under Source and then use one of the following ways:
Using the Structure Browser.
Enter the name of the study in the user input line including double quotes and the path name. - for example, "/p1/study1".
Click on one of its LBC or mesh conditioning symbols (if available).
3. If necessary, specify a name for the new study using one of the following ways:
Type the name for the study in the Name box.
Click Name, and type the name for the study in the user input line, including double quotes - for example, "study2".
4. If necessary, click Owner and specify the owner of the new study using one of the following ways:
Click the owner (part or assembly) from the Structure Browser, and click Apply.
Enter the name of the owner in the user input line, including double quotes and the path name - for example, "/assy1".
5. Click to complete the procedure.
To set the active study,
Click Set Active and then specify the study. If you have several studies, the easiest method is to use the Structure Browser to specify the study. However, you can enter the name on the user input line.
To change the owner of a study,
1. Click FEA and then, in the Study group, click Owner. The Modify Owner dialog box opens.
2. Click Study and specify the study.
3. Click New Owner and specify the new owner of the study using one of the following ways:
Click the new owner (for example, the parent assembly) from the Structure Browser.
Enter the name of the assembly in the user input line, including double quotes and the path name. - for example, "/assy1".
4. Click to complete the procedure.
