Set up and run an analysis
Once you have created a study for a part, set up the loads, boundary conditions and mesh conditions within it, and assigned a material, you can prepare and run an analysis on the part. This process is controlled using the buttons on the FEA tab in the Analyze group.
The Analyze group allows you to:
Specify the study to be analyzed
Add to the study the analysis set-up information, or job definition, which consists of:
The type of analysis to be performed.
The types of results to be collected during the analysis.
Run the analysis job.
When you run the analysis job, Creo Elements/Direct Finite Element Analysis performs the following steps using the information specified in the active study:
1. Creates a mesh of finite elements for the part (with any mesh conditions applied).
2. Applies all the loads and boundary conditions to the mesh.
3. Applies the algorithm associated with the selected analysis type for the assigned material.
4. Collects all the types of results required into temporary datasets.
*
Before you run a full analysis, you can produce the mesh alone. This allows you to examine it, modify it and/or export it.
If, when you run an analysis, a mesh for the part exists from a previous meshing session and there have been no changes applied since its creation, Creo Elements/Direct Finite Element Analysis does not re-mesh the part, but rather uses the existing mesh.
