Creo Elements/Direct Cabling Tutorial 3: Step 1 of 2
Create a cable
Creo Elements/Direct Cabling comes with pre-defined lists of cables and wires, which are defined in the cable_definition.txt and wire_definition.txt files in the root Creo Elements/Direct Cabling directory.
You can edit and add cables by using the cable librarian.
To edit or add a cable or wire using the librarians,
*
You must uncheck the Read-only attributes in the files' Properties windows before editing. Instead, we recommend that you create your own copies of the cable and wire definition files, and edit those. Non-Read-only files in Creo Elements/Direct Modeling's installation directory may cause problems when you upgrade.
1. If you created a new copy of cable_definition.txt, click File > Settings > Cabling > Wire/Cable Library path menu to locate the new definition file.
2. Click Interface and then, in the Library group, click the arrow next to Wire.
3. Click Cable library. The MultiWire Cable Librarian V2.0 table opens.
4. Click Add Cable.
5. Give the new cable the following specifications:
Cable Id: Tutorial
Number: 3
CableDia: 8
Bend R: 5
Jacket Color: From the color selector, adjust the RGB levels:
Red: 246
Green: 248
Blue: 181
6. Adjust the color of conductors 1, 2, and 3 to white, black, and green, respectively.
7. Click OK to complete the operation.
