Modify a guide
You can modify guides in the following ways:
Change the diameter.
Modify the number of passing points.
Change the length.
Change the position.
Create copies.
To modify a guide,
1. Click or and then select the guide to increase or decrease the diameter in steps of 5 mm, respectively. Alternatively, type or select a value in the adjacent box and then select the guide.
*
The diameter of a guide is only a visual parameter; it does not have any impact on the channel.
2. Click the buttons below Points inside to modify the number of passing points inside the guide.
The number of passing points of a guide has a direct influence on path straightness. Guides are initially created with three passing points, which is the minimum. However, for very long guides, additional points may be required for a straight routing, though this is only for a visually-better effect.
a. Click the “+1” button and then select the guide to add points. All channel edges inside the guide are automatically updated.
b. Click the “–1” button and then select the guide to reduce points. All channel edges inside the guide are automatically updated.
3. Click , select a guide, and use the CoPilot to change the length of the guide.
*
Changing the length of the guide affects the channel shape as shown in the following image.
4. Click Position and select the guide. The Position dialog box opens, using which you can move the guide.
*
Only the guide is positioned; channel edges inside the guide are not modified. To move channels and their guides, use the Modify tab.
5. Click Copy and select a guide. A copy of the guide is created next to the guide and the Position dialog box opens for further positioning.
