Route cables manually
You can route individual wires or bundles of wires (cables). Unlike the Creo Elements/Direct Cabling module's auto-routing features, manual routing requires no existing channel before cabling or wiring may be laid.
Is automatic or manual routing preferable? Strategies for creating harness assemblies.
Manually route cables with one of these methods:
Polygon: Select points in the viewport along which you want to route linear segments of cabling, or use the 3D Copilot to place cabling on your model.
Spline: Select points along which the cabling follows a smooth curve.
Profile: Route cabling along either a workplane's 2D Geometry or a 3D curve.
Pin to Pin: Directly route cabling between the pins of connectors and terminals.
Faces: Route cabling over one or more faces.
Through clamps: Route cabling through cable clamps placed on the model.
On Edges: Route cabling along your model's edges.
XYZ List: Route cabling according to three dimensional Cartesian coordinates specified in an ASCII file.
The Creo Elements/Direct Cabling module's Manual Routing menu also contains commands with which you can modify existing routing, regardless of whether it was routed manually or automatically. You can use them to modify wireframes of cables, wires, and channels.
In each of these commands, except XYZ list, you can change the cable jacket color in the Properties section of the dialog.
