Create or activate a harness assembly
All cabling components (wires, cables, connectors, fixtures, etc.) belong to a harness assembly, and every cabling command requires an active harness assembly. Your model may contain multiple harness assemblies, but only one may be active at a time.
*
If you do not have an active harness assembly in your Creo Elements/Direct Modeling session, a warning appears when you try to use the Creo Elements/Direct Cabling commands on the ribbon. To set an active harness assembly, you can either click New and create a new harness assembly or click Select and select a harness assembly.
To create a harness assembly,
1. Click Cabling an then, in the Harness group, click New. The Create Harness dialog box opens.
2. Give the harness a Name.
3. Select an Owner for the new assembly. The owner must be an assembly or the root (/).
4. Click to complete the operation. The harness is now active.
*
The name of the harness assembly is automatically appended to the Model Name of each object in the harness assembly. This creates unique Model Names for the objects and the objects can be easily managed in the Creo Elements/DirectModel Manager.
To set a harness assembly active,
1. Click Cabling an then, in the Harness group, click Select. The Set Active Harness dialog box opens.
2. Select a Harness.
3. Click to complete the operation.
*
To determine the currently active harness assembly, type (display (oli::sd-inq-obj-pathname MIP_SC::SC_HARNESS)) in the user input line and press ENTER .
