Import a .con file
Before you automatically create connections using a net list in Cabling's ECAD interface, you can load a connector (.con) file. This helps you save time by avoiding manually loading each connector and assigning reference designators individually. Connector files contain information about the quantity and type of connectors, as well as their reference designators and location. You can use connector files to help you automatically load and position multiple connectors.
You can create your own connector files. They take the following format:
recursive_search_directory
C:\Program files\Creo Elements\Direct Modeling [version]\my_connectors
350346.pkg|-X6
350346.pkg|-X5
350346.pkg|-X4
350346.pkg|-X3
480510.pkg|-X2
480510.pkg|-X1
You can specify any directory following the "recursive_search_directory" statement. Creo Elements/Direct Cabling will search subdirectories of the path you specify for named connectors' .pkg files, as well as assign the specified reference designators (for example, "-X6" in the example above).
To load a connector file,
1. Click Interface and then, in the ECAD group, click Import Ecad.
2. In the File Type box, select Connector Files (*.con).
3. Locate the connector file and click Load.
4. Position connectors listed in the Not positioned tab:
Specify a Catalog Configuration File using the Search Path List button.
Load and position connectors manually or automatically:
Click Manual Position and double-click the connector from the list.
Load and position the connectors automatically by clicking Auto Position , selecting one or more connectors from the list, and clicking Load Selected. In the dialog box that appears, Delta is the distance separating each connector.
5. Click to complete the operation.

Click Output to File in the ECAD Information Browser to save a new connector file based on your current harness assembly.
