Performing and updating Creo Simulate analysis
Creo Elements/Direct Modeling allows you to export a selected part or assembly to Creo Simulate. The exported files are automatically imported in Creo Parametric and saved in the Creo Elements/Pro format with the .prt or .asm extension (native Creo Parametric extension for parts or assemblies). Finally, you can perform the analysis using Creo Simulate.
To perform a Creo Simulate analysis,
1. Activate the Creo Simulate module in Creo Elements/Direct Modeling:
a. Click Application and then, in the Base group, click (dialog box launcher). Alternatively, click File > Modules. The Modules dialog box opens.
b. Click the Creo Simulate check box in the Appl. Interfaces pane.
c. Click Close.
2. Click Application Interfaces and then, in the Creo Simulate group, click Create. The Create Analysis dialog box opens.
3. Select a part or an assembly from the viewport or the structure browser in Creo Elements/Direct Modeling. The Browse For Folder dialog box opens.
4. Create or select an empty model folder. The default folder is based on the path in Creo Simulate settings. For example, if the path in the settings is drive>:\Program Files\Creo Simulate\Model folder, then the Model folder is the default folder.
5. Click OK. Creo Elements/Direct Modeling saves the neutral and XML files to the model folder and starts Creo Elements/Pro. The XML files are required to maintain ATB associativity.
6. Click OK to complete the operation. Creo Simulate starts, loads the model, and the analysis parameters can be defined. Creo Elements/Direct Modeling creates an analysis folder in the model folder. You can choose a name for the Creo Simulate analysis. All Creo Simulate output is stored in this analysis folder.
If you update the model geometry in Creo Elements/Direct after performing a Creo Simulate analysis, the analysis needs to be updated.
To update a Creo Simulate analysis,
1. Activate the Creo Simulate module from Creo Elements/Direct Modeling.
2. Click Application Interfaces and then, in the Creo Simulate group, click Update. The Update Analysis dialog box opens.
3. Select a part or an assembly. The Browse For Folder dialog box opens.
4. Select the model folder which you used when you first performed the analysis.
*
If you do not select the same model folder, the update is rejected.
5. Click OK.
6. Click OK to complete the operation.
*
Select Start Creo Simulate in the Update Analysis dialog box to automatically start Creo Simulate if it is not already started.
To successfully export a part or an assembly from Creo Elements/Direct Modeling to Creo Simulate, set the path for Creo Elements/Pro installation directory and a default directory to store the model information to be transferred.
To change Creo Simulate settings,
1. Activate the Creo Simulate module from Creo Elements/Direct Modeling.
2. Click Application Interfaces and then, in the Creo Simulate group, click Settings. The Creo Simulate Settings dialog box opens.
3. Click Appl. Path. The Browse For Folder dialog box opens.
4. Select the Creo Parametric installation directory and click OK
5. Click Default Dir on the Creo Simulate Settings. The Browse For Folder dialog box opens.
6. Select a default directory where you want to store the data to be transferred to Creo Simulate.
Each new transfer creates an empty subfolder in this directory.
7. In the Unit System box, select MMNS or MMKS. For the exported parts and assemblies, the respective units will be displayed in Creo Simulate.
