Gather annotations to docuplanes
Use the Gather button in manual or wizard mode to assign free 3D annotations to docuplanes. You can also use this command to change the docuplanes to which existing annotations belong, or to free annotations from docuplanes. This command is useful because 3D annotations must belong to a docuplane to be transferred to 2D drawings.
To modify the docuplane association of annotations using wizard mode,
Use the gather anno wizard to gather or free large numbers of 3D annotations with a single click. It intelligently filters 3D annotations by the types you specify, and selects the suitable annotations to associate with any docuplane.
1. Click 3D Documentation and then, in the Setup group, click the arrow next to More.
2. Click Gather under Tools. The Annos Docuplanes dialog box opens.
3. Click Wizard.
4. Click to select annotation types by which to filter:
Linear and Angular Dim Linear and angular dimensions.
Radial Dim Radius and diameter dimensions.
Radial style Keep radial style.
Symbol Includes GD&T, surface, welding, and user-defined symbols.
Text Includes 3D notes, generic texts, and custom feature labels.
Pos Flag From BOM.
Mach. Flag From the Creo Elements/Direct Machining module.
5. Leave Consider Annos recursive blank to use only annotations belonging to the current owner. Click it if you also wish to include annotations in parts and assemblies under the current owner.
6. Use the Gather Anno Wizard for any of the following:
Gather all annotations
Use this command to easily gather all suitable free annotations to docuplanes. The wizard will intelligently identify which free 3D annotations are appropriate for the selected docuplane.
1. Select a docuplane. The wizard highlights in magenta all free annotations appropriate for the selected docuplane.
2. Click Gather All to associate the highlighted annotations with the selected docuplane.
3. If necessary, click Next DP to move to the next docuplane in the docuplane set.
4. Click to complete the operation.
Gather some annotations
Use this command to easily gather some suitable free annotations to docuplanes. The wizard will intelligently identify which free 3D annotations are appropriate for the selected docuplane.
1. Select a docuplane. The wizard highlights in magenta all free annotations.
2. Click one annotation at a time, or hold down SHIFT and click to select multiple annotations.
3. If necessary, click Next DP to move to the next docuplane in the docuplane set.
4. Click to complete the operation.
Free annotations
Use this command to easily free annotations from docuplanes.
1. Select a docuplane. The wizard highlights in magenta all free annotations.
2. Click Free.
3. Click one annotation at a time, or hold down SHIFT and click to select multiple annotations at once. If you click only one, you must click Free again to disassociate (free) another annotation.
4. If necessary, click Next DP to move to the next docuplane in the docuplane set.
5. Click to complete the operation.
*
The gather and free operations modify the owner of the annotation, docuplane, and docuplane set.
When selecting one dimension in a coordinate or baseline dimension chain while gathering annotations, the entire dimension chain is gathered to the selected docuplane.
You may gather custom features from the structure browser.
To modify the docuplane association of annotations using manual mode,
1. Click 3D Documentation and then, in the Setup group, click the arrow next to More.
2. Click Gather under Tools. The Annos Docuplanes dialog box opens.
3. Click Manual.
4. Click the annotation to reassociate. Its current docuplane, if any, is shown in the Docuplane box; if the selected annotation is free, the Docuplane box is left blank.
5. Assign the annotation to another docuplane or free it:
Specify the new Docuplane to assign to the selected annotation by clicking it in the viewport or selecting it from the browser.
Click Free to disassociate the annotation from any docuplane.
6. If necessary, continue assigning annos.
7. Click to complete the operation.
You can also select multiple annotations and gather them to one docuplane, or free them, in a single operation. Use Shift-left-button and click annotations in the viewport; click Shift-middle-button to complete the selection. The Docuplane box in this case remains blank after the selection of annotations.
Limitations
To gather annotations to a docuplane, the owner of the docuplane, docuplane set, part, or assembly must not be read-only.
