Draw sub-docuplane borders
You can draw a circle, rectangle, polygon, or a closed splinar region to define the border of a sub-docuplane:
1. Click one of the border types:
Rectangle
Circle (active by default)
Polygon
Spline
2. Click the first point of the border.
3. Then:
For rectangles and circles: click the other point to define the border.
For polygons and splines, continue clicking points as required. When you are finished, click Accept in the menu (or close the polygon). The menu contracts again when the border had been defined. You can click Back at any time to undo the last specified point of the border.
To modify a sub-docuplane border,
1. Click 3D Documentation and then, in the Setup group, click the arrow next to Sub Docuplane.
2. Click Modify. The Modify Border dialog box opens.
3. Click the sub-docuplane to modify.
4. Click one of the modification commands:
To move a border, click Move All and click one of the options described below.
To resize or rotate a border, click Resize & Rot and specify one of the options as described below.
To edit the segments of a polygonal or rectangular border, click Edit and use the options as described below.
To stretch a splinar border, click Stretch and use the options as described below.
5. Continue modifying the border.
6. Click to complete the operation.
To move a sub-docuplane border,
You can move a partial or detail docuplane border in one of the following three ways:
Two Pts
Specify two points (by clicking or with coordinates) to define a distance and direction to move the border.
Horizontal
Enter a horizontal offset in the user input line, or specify two points (by clicking or with coordinates) to define a horizontal distance and direction to move the border.
Vertical
Enter a vertical offset in the user input line, or specify two points (by clicking or with coordinates) to define a vertical distance and direction to move the border.
Click Accept in the Move area to return to the Modify Border menu, or Cancel to abandon the changes.
The border is adjusted as you specify options.
To scale or rotate a sub-docuplane border,
You can resize or rotate a border using the following options:
Ref Point
Specify the reference point (by clicking or with coordinates) of the resize and rotate operations. The default is the midpoint of the area enclosed by the border.
Factor
Enter a factor by which the border should be resized. The factor is relative to the current size.
Angle
Enter an angle by which the border should be rotated. The angle is relative to the current position.
Click Accept in the Resize & Rotate area to return to the Modify Border menu, or Cancel to abandon the changes.
The border is adjusted as you specify values.
To edit a sub-docuplane border,
You can edit polygonal and rectangular sub-docuplane borders by creating, modifying, and removing segments of the existing border.
To draw single lines or polygonal lines composed of connected segments:
1. Click one of the options for drawing lines, described below.
2. Click the first point of the line.
3. Click further options or continue clicking points on the line.
The following list explains the drawing options available:
Two Points
Creates a line segment between any two points.
Horizontal
Creates a horizontal line segment.
Vertical
Creates a vertical line segment.
Parallel To
Creates a line segment that is parallel to another line.
Perpend To
Creates a line segment that is perpendicular to another line.
When Polygon is selected, you can draw a continuous "chain" of line segments. Graphical feedback of the polygonal line remains attached to the cursor until you click Accept or another option. When Polygon is cleared, only one line segment is completed at a time.
Four commands to modify existing border segments are also available in the Edit area. These are the following:
Move
Moves one or more segments. Click the segment to move, or use the Select tool to move multiple segments, and then specify the move action by two points, horizontally, or vertically; as described above.
Copy
Copies one or more segments. This is done in the same way as the Move command.
Split
Splits segments into smaller segments, inserting a new vertex at the point of splitting. This can be useful to move, copy, or remove only a part of a segment. Click the segment to split, and then click the splitting point on the segment.
Stretch
Stretches one or more segments. This is done in the same way as the Move command. The Stretch command moves one or more vertices of the segments, leaving the other vertices in their original positions. The three options in the Stretch Elements area, Two Pts, Horizontal, and Vertical, determine the direction in which the selected vertices are moved.
You can also remove elements of the sub-docuplane border. Click Remove to delete an unwanted line segment.
Click Accept in any of the areas to return to the Edit area, or Cancel to abandon any changes.
The border is adjusted as you specify options.
To stretch a splinar sub-docuplane border,
You can stretch vertices of a sub-docuplane border defined by a B-spline. When you click Stretch in the Modify Border dialog box, the control points and interpolation points of the spline are displayed in the viewport. Click an interpolation point (shown as a blue circle on the spline itself) and then click a new position for it.
Continue stretching interpolation points until you are satisfied with the result. Click Accept to return to the Modify Border dialog box, or Cancel to abandon any changes.
