Customizing the Creo Elements/Direct Modeling Ribbon
You can customize the Creo Elements/Direct Modeling ribbon to quickly access frequently-used commands.
You can customize the ribbon by:
Adding a Tab
Adding a Group
Adding a Command (Button) to the Ribbon
Removing a Tab, Group, or Button from the Ribbon
Adding an Element to the Ribbon
Renaming a Tab, Group, or Button
Hiding or Showing a Tab or a Group
Modifying the Button Style
Changing the Order of a Tab, Group, or Button
Restoring the Default Ribbon Settings
You can customize the ribbon using the Options dialog box.
To open the Options dialog box:
Click File > Options.
Alternatively, right-click the ribbon and select Customize Quick Access Toolbar.
The Options dialog box opens. The Customize Ribbon pane is selected by default.
To apply and view the customized settings, click OK in the Options dialog box.
To cancel the modified settings, click Cancel in the Options dialog box.
Adding a Tab
You can add a tab to the Creo Elements/Direct Modeling ribbon.
To add a tab:
1. Click File > Options.
The Options dialog box opens. The Customize Ribbon pane is selected by default.
2. In the Application box, retain the default (Modeling) or select other applications (available if those applications are active) to add the tab to the selected applications.

In the Application box, you can select All excl. Annotation to add the tab to all applications except Annotation.
In the list on the right below the Application box,
The tabs that are shared between all active applications are displayed in bold text.
The tabs that are unique to the application selected in the Application box are displayed in normal text.
3. In the list on the right, select a tab below which your tab should be added.
The selected tab is highlighted.

If you do not select a tab, your tab is added at the end of all tabs, by default.
If an item is already selected, your tab is added below the parent tab of the selected item.
4. Click New Tab.
A tab is added below the selected tab. In addition, a group is automatically added to the tab.
5. Select the tab, click Rename, and specify a name for the tab.

You can also select the tab, right-click and click Rename on the context menu to name a tab.
Adding a Group
You can add a group to the Creo Elements/Direct Modeling ribbon.
To add a group:
1. Click File > Options.
The Options dialog box opens. The Customize Ribbon pane is selected by default.
2. In the Application box, retain the default (Modeling) or select other applications (available if those applications are active) to add the group to a tab in the selected applications.

In the Application box, you can select All excl. Annotation to add the group to any tab that is common to all applications excluding Annotation.
To add a group to any tab in Annotation, in the Application box, select Annotation.
3. In the list on the right (below the Application box), select an active tab or a group.
Ensure that you select a tab or group below which you need to add the group.
The selected tab or group is highlighted.

If you do not select a tab or group, your group is added at the end of all groups of the first tab.
4. Click New Group.
A group is added below the selected tab or group.
5. Click Rename and specify a name for the group.

You can select the group, right-click, and click Rename on the context menu to add a new group.
Adding a Command (Button) to the Ribbon
You can add the default Creo Elements/Direct Modeling commands to custom (user-defined) groups on the ribbon.
To add a button to the ribbon:
1. Click File > Options.
The Options dialog box opens. The Customize Ribbon pane is selected by default.
2. In the list on the right (below the Application box), select the custom (user-defined) group to which you want to add a command.

You can choose the Utilities (a system group) group to add commands to the group.
3. In the Choose commands from box, choose one of the following:
Available Command Groups (The available command groups are listed in the box below)
All Tabs
File Tab
Custom Tabs & Groups

To view the list of user-defined tabs and groups, and commands added to these groups, select Custom Tabs & Groups.
4. If you choose Available Command Groups, in the box below, select a command group.
5. Depending on the selection in the previous two boxes, tabs, groups, and commands are listed in the list on the left. Select a command in the list and click Add.
The command is now visible in the selected custom group in the list on the right. A brief description of the command selected is displayed in the box below the list on the left.

If tabs are listed in the list on the left, expand the tabs and then groups to display the commands.
* 
You can add commands to custom (user-defined) groups and the Utilities group only.
You cannot add buttons directly to a tab.
If you add a new default command (button):
When a command is selected in the list on the right, the new command is added below the selected command in the list.
When a group is selected in the list on the right, the new command is added after all the other commands in the group.
Removing a Tab, Group, or Button from the Ribbon
To remove a tab, group, or a button from the ribbon:
1. Click File > Options.
The Options dialog box opens. The Customize Ribbon pane is selected by default.
2. In the list on the right, select the tab, group, or button (command).
3. Click Remove.
The selected tab, group, or button is removed from the ribbon.

You cannot remove default (system) tabs, groups, or commands (buttons) from the ribbon.
You can only remove the custom tabs, groups, or buttons.

You can also use the context menu to remove tabs, groups, or buttons.
Adding an Element to the Ribbon
You can add the following elements to the Creo Elements/Direct Modeling ribbon:
A button with an arrow not separated by a line (Menu)
A button with an icon and an arrow separated by a line (Split Menu)
A separator
To add a new element:
1. Click File > Options.
The Options dialog box opens. The Customize Ribbon pane is selected by default.
2. In the list on the right, select a custom (user-defined) group to which you want to add a new element.

You can add commands only to a custom group.
If you add a new element (created by Menu or Split Menu):
When a command is selected in the list on the right, the new element is added below the selected command in the list.
When a group is selected in the list on the right, the new element is added after all the other commands in the group.
3. In the New Element list, select one of the following:
Menu to add a button with an arrow not separated by a line. For more information about Menu, see The Modeling User Interface.
The button is added at the end of the selected group.
Split Menu to add a button with an icon and an arrow separated by a line.
The button is added at the end of the selected group.
Separator to add a separator.
A separator is added below the selected group.

You can also add a separator between two buttons.
4. Click Rename and specify a name for the button (created by using Menu or Split Menu).
5. To add a command (button) to the button (created by using Menu or Split Menu), see Adding a command to the ribbon.
Renaming a Tab, Group, or Button
To rename a tab, group, or button:
1. Click File > Options.
The Options dialog box opens. The Customize Ribbon pane is selected by default.
2. In the list on the right, select the tab, group, or button.
The selected item is highlighted.
3. Click Rename and specify a name for the tab, group, or button.
The new name is displayed in the list on the right and on the ribbon after you click OK.

You can rename all default or custom (user-defined) tabs and groups except the Utilities group.
You can rename default buttons that are added to the custom (user-defined) tabs and groups.

You can also use the context menu for renaming elements on the ribbon.
Hiding or Showing a Tab or a Group
You can select the tabs or groups that you want to hide or view on the ribbon.
To hide or show a tab or a group:
1. Click File > Options.
The Options dialog box opens. The Customize Ribbon pane is selected by default.
2. In the list on the right, clear or click the check box of the tab or group to hide or show the tab or group, respectively.

You can show or hide only:
The active tabs or groups that belong to the selected application in the Application box.
The tabs that are common to all applications.
Modifying the Button Style
You can modify the appearance of a button on the ribbon.
To modify the appearance of a button:
1. Click File > Options.
The Options dialog box opens. The Customize Ribbon pane is selected by default.
2. In the list on the right, under a custom (user-defined) group, select the button (created by using Menu or Split Menu) or a default button added to the custom group.
The Modify button is activated.

The Modify button is activated only when you select a button in a custom group.
3. Click Modify.
The Modify Element dialog box opens.
4. In the Icon area, click Browse to replace the current icon with a different icon.
To reset the icon, click Reset.

You can only change the icons for the following:
A custom button created by using Menu.
A default button with an icon and an arrow and not separated by a line.
5. In the Button Layout area, select one of the following:
Small to display the button as a small button.
Small - No Icon to display the button as a small button without the icon.
Large to display the button as a large button.
6. Optionally, click or clear the Hide check box to hide or display the label of the button, respectively, on the ribbon.
Changing the Order of a Tab, Group, or Button
You can change the order of a tab, group, or button on the ribbon in Creo Elements/Direct Modeling.
To change the order of a tab, group, or button:
1. Click File > Options.
The Options dialog box opens. The Customize Ribbon pane is selected by default.
2. In the list on the right, select the button, group, or tab.

You cannot change the order of a default button.
3. Click to move up or to move down.
* 
You can also use the context menu to change the order of a tab, group, or button on the ribbon.
Restoring the Default Ribbon Settings
You can reject the changes that you have made for customizing the ribbon. The default ribbon settings are restored after rejecting the ribbon customization changes.
To restore the default ribbon settings:
1. Click File > Options.
The Options dialog box opens. The Customize Ribbon pane is selected by default.
2. In the Customization box, click:
Reset to reject the ribbon customization changes that you have made for the current application.
Reset All to reject the ribbon customization changes that you have made for all applications.

You will see the ribbon customization changes only when you restart Creo Elements/Direct Modeling.
