Change UI settings
The UI Settings control how the user interface handles your input. By adjusting these settings, you can increase the speed with which you interact with the user interface or to suit your working style.
To change your user interface settings,
1. Click File > Settings > UI.
2. The Commands tab includes the following settings:
Show OK and Cancel buttons: Display the green check mark, red X, and green arrow in the viewport as well as in appropriate dialogs.
Placement of command options: Determines where command boxes will be displayed in the viewport.
Show Recent Commands: Displays the specified number of recently-used commands in the bottom-right corner of the viewport. The default number is 6.
Reset Recent Commands toolbar with new session: Displays an empty Recent Commands Toolbar in the bottom-right corner of the viewport when you start a new session.
By default, this checkbox is cleared to retain the Recent Commands Toolbar of the previous session.
3. The Controls tab includes the following settings:
Button Trigger: Changes the response of the left mouse button.
On Push: Command is completed when you press the left mouse button.
On Release: Command is completed when you press and then release the left mouse button. This is the default button trigger.
Auto Accept on focus lost: Determines whether or not you need to press Enter after typing a value in a data entry field. When this option is not active, you must press the Enter key to accept the value (this is the default). When it is active, the value is accepted automatically as soon as you click in another data entry field or start another action.
Keep Last Values: Retains a history of values you have entered. With this option active, you can right-click in a value field to select a value you entered previously. This includes values obtained from measure commands, so you can fill in fields with measurements.
Multiline Input Field Font: The font used in the multi-line editor. Click Modify to change the font face and size.
4. The User Input Line tab includes the following settings:
Auto Complete entries in the user input line: Complete commands as you type them with commands previously entered.
Pass dialog keyboard input to user input line: Pass keyboard input to the user input line when a dialog has the keyboard focus. If a text entry dialog has the focus, the input goes to the text field and not to the user input line.
User Input Line History: The number of entries to keep if you select Save user input line history. Commands you type in the user input line in the current session are saved for the next session. The history log can contain up to 50 entries.
5. The Customizations tab includes the following settings:
Show Directories: Display customization directories and locations in the output dialog.
Reset Settings: Revert all personal UI and persistent settings to the defaults. Make sure you save your model or assembly before you reset your settings, because Creo Elements/Direct Modeling will shut down without saving.
6. The Fast Access tab lets you customize the Mini Toolbars and includes the following settings:
3D Handles: Displays the 3D CoPilot if you select 3D objects or workplanes that have profiles in the viewport.
2D Handles: Displays the 2D CoPilot if you select 2D profiles in the viewport. You can then drag the handles on the 2D elements to change their size or position.
Command Mini Toolbar: Displays the Command Mini Toolbar (CMT) if you select elements such as 2D profiles, workplanes, or 3D objects in the viewport.
Provide access to Option Mini Toolbar: Provides access to Option Mini Toolbar (OMT) when you move the cursor to the viewport and press the SPACEBAR key.
Show extended indicator for Option Mini Toolbar: Shows an extended indicator for the OMT when you move the cursor to the viewport.
Close Option Mini Toolbar after interaction: Closes the OMT if you click an option button on the OMT.
Distance for Option Mini Toolbar visibility: Modifies the distance between the cursor and the OMT without losing the visibility of the OMT. Slide the bar horizontally to the right to increase, or to the left to decrease the distance.
Available Shortcuts Browser (Show after startup): Displays the Available Shortcuts browser when you start Creo Elements/Direct Modeling. By default, the Available Shortcuts browser is displayed in the upper-right corner of the viewport.
7. The Misc tab includes the following settings:
Recently Used Files (Number of Entries): The number of files listed in the File menu which were loaded or saved recently. By default up to 4 files are listed. You can define a value between 2 and 16 to see up to 16 most recently used files.
8. Click Close when you are finished. Changes are applied as you change settings.
