Change 2D CoPilot settings
You can change 2D CoPilot snap conditions and viewing options. These settings also affect the Point 3D CoPilot where appropriate.
To change 2D CoPilot settings,
1. Click File > Settings > 2D CoPilot. You can also right-click in a viewport when the 2D CoPilot is active and select 2D CoPilot Settings. The 2D CoPilot Settings dialog box opens. The left pane of the 2D CoPilot Settings dialog box lists the categories of options and the right pane displays the options for each category.

When the 2D CoPilot is active, press the SPACEBAR key and click on the Option Mini Toolbar (OMT) to open the 2D CoPilot Settings dialog box.
2. Set the Snapping options. These options affect how the 2D CoPilot snaps to 2D objects:
Sensitivity: Adjust the snap sensitivity by using the slider. Coarser sensitivity makes the cursor snap to lines or vertices faster. You can adjust the snap sensitivity from 50% of the catch cursor size to 150% of the catch cursor size. By default, the sensitivity is 100%. For information about the catch cursor size, see Catch settings.
Max Number of Historic Points: Set the maximum number of historic points. Move the cursor over center points, midpoints, vertices, and intersection points in the viewport to mark the points as historic points. Depending on the 2D Snap options, the cursor point snaps to same XY or perpendicular projector lines through these historic points.
Large Symbols: Display large 2D CoPilot symbols for specific snapping operations such as horizontal, vertical, parallel, perpendicular, and tangent in the viewport. Large Symbols is clicked by default. Clear the Large Symbols check box to view the small 2D CoPilot symbols.
3. Set the 2D Snap options. These options affect how the 2D CoPilot snaps to 2D objects:
Snap always: The CoPilot always snaps to existing 2D geometry, including construction lines, points, and projected geometry in the viewport.
Snap with SHIFT-key: The CoPilot snaps to existing 2D geometry, including construction lines, points, and projected geometry only if you press SHIFT.
Snap To: These options control what types of geometry or conditions the CoPilot will snap to.
Same XY: Horizontal or vertical dashed lines if you move the cursor away from a historic point to the left or right (same y value) or up or down (same x value).
Perpendicular Projectors: Perpendicular projection of the cursor point onto a straight line through a historic vertex. For horizontal or vertical lines, this perpendicular projector is the same as the same x or y line.
Curve Extensions: Dashed line and arc extensions from historic end points of a curve.
Distant Elements: The infinite extensions of the cursor line can snap to historic points.
Perpendicular Distant Elements: An invisible line at the cursor point perpendicular to the cursor line that snaps to historic points.
Midpoints: Midpoints of finite straight lines, circles, and arcs.
Intersections: An intersection of two or more 2D geometry elements. An intersection is considered as a historic point if you move the cursor over the intersection.
Circle Extremes: Invisible tangential lines of a circle at its top point, right or left most point, and bottom point. These lines are always horizontal or vertical.
Corner Lines: An invisible angle bisector line through the historic intersection point of two straight lines.
4. Set the 3D Project options. These options affect how the 2D CoPilot projects 3D objects geometry onto the active workplane:
Project always: The CoPilot always projects the existing 3D objects geometry onto the active workplane.
Project with SHIFT-key: The CoPilot projects the existing 3D objects geometry onto the active workplane only if you press SHIFT.
Parts: Choose the parts (Active Part or All Parts), if any, that the 2D CoPilot uses to project geometry.
Workplanes: Choose either Active WP or All Workplanes.
All Workplanes: Move the cursor over 2D geometry elements in workplanes other than the active workplane. For example, move the cursor over geometry elements on any workplane to project the geometry onto the active workplane in the blue color.
Geometry: Move the cursor over the type of geometry that the 2D CoPilot will project.
In Plane Only: Only project 3D geometry onto an active workplane, which is in the same plane as the 3D geometry.

Clear the In Plane Only check box to:
Project a straight edge (3D geometry) onto an active workplane, which is parallel (not in the same plane) to the straight edge.
Project a circular edge (3D geometry) onto an active workplane, which is parallel (not in the same plane) or perpendicular to the circular edge.
Project the center of the circular edge onto an active workplane, which is parallel, perpendicular, or oblique to the circular edge.
Point: Project a point onto the active workplane.
Line: Project a line onto the active workplane.
Circle: Project a circle and its center onto the active workplane.
Bspline: Project a B-spline, an ellipse, or an intersection of two surfaces (surface-surface intersection curve) onto the active workplane.
Intersection: Causes the 2D CoPilot to project intersections of 3D geometry with the active workplane (or the current plane, if you're working with the Point 2D CoPilot).
Clipline: Project lines, ellipses, or splines onto the workplane from the intersection of a clipping plane and the face of a part. By default, Clipline is selected.
5. Set the Drag options:
Smooth: Every viewport pixel considered to measure drag distance. Smooth mode does not allow precision dragging.
Dynamic: Snap to discrete values, such as 1.0, 2.0, 3.0. The distance between these values depends on the current snap grid resolution and the slider value. To change the snap grid resolution, press the Page Up or Page Down key; to reset to the default press Home.
6. Set the Text options:
Show Cursor Text: Hide or display textual feedback.
Cartesian Coordinates: Display u and v (Cartesian) coordinates when you draw a line or arc in the viewport.
Polar Coordinates: Display polar coordinates when you draw a line or arc in the viewport. For example, display the radius and angle of the arc when you draw an arc.
Cursor Text: Display textual feedback close to the cursor for the CoPilot.
Attributes: These options control the text display for the CoPilot. Choose whether the text should follow the cursor or should be placed in any of the four other positions.
Use Long Prefixes: Display long prefix such as Radius, Length, or Angle. Clear the Use Long Prefixes check box to display a short prefix such as R, L, or A.
Hide On Full Snap: Hide any text such as a prefix or values in the viewport, when the cursor snaps (full snap) to a point, a line or any other geometry in the viewport. This option avoids displaying uneven length, angle, radius, or coordinate prefix values when the cursor snaps to a 2D geometry element.
7. Set the Look options. These options control the color of various elements such as snapped elements, projected elements, and other elements.
8. Set the Feedback options. These options control the color of various feedback elements such as selected geometry, modified geometry, and other feedback elements.
9. Set the Misc. options:
Automatic Profile Termination: When you draw with the Line/Arc command, the CoPilot will automatically go out of drawing mode when your profile is closed.
Automatic Zoom: Automatically zooms and rotates the model when you start a command from the 2D CoPilot section and select a face on an existing part. A workplane is also created, whether or not you have this option selected.
Automatic Tangent Lines: When you draw a line using the 2D Copilot Line/Arc command or Infinite Construction 2 Pos command, the created line is automatically tangential to the selected circular or spline element. By default, this option is off. To switch this option on or off temporarily, press the SPACEBAR key, and click Tangent on Option Mini Toolbar (OMT) or right-click and choose Tangent in the context menu.
Automatic Tangent Circle by 3 Points: When you draw a circle with Circle 3 Pnts, the created circle is automatically tangent to existing elements that are selected as tangent reference on the workplane . By default, this option is on. To temporarily switch this option on or off, press Spacebar, and click Tangent on Option Mini Toolbar (OMT) or right-click and choose Tangent in the context menu.
Diameter Mode: Toggles between the radius mode and diameter mode for creating a circle. By default, Diameter Mode is not active.
10. Click Reset to restore the settings of a single category, selected categories, or all categories of options to the Site, Corp, or Factory default settings. The Reset 2D CoPilot Settings dialog box opens. The current category is selected by default if you click Reset.
11. Click Close when you are finished. Changes are applied as you change settings.
