The work area (user interface) > Selection tools > Select 3D elements

Select 3D elements
Click Modeling and then, in the Utilities group, click (Select). The Select dialog box opens. Click 3D Elem. There are two general groups of 3D elements:
Edges (Edges).
Faces (Faces).
By clicking the 3D Elements header you can display a full list of the elements including the two general groups.
By clicking one of the options, you restrict the selection to that option. For example, if you click Edges you restrict the selection to all edges (linear, circular, and so on). If you click Lines, you restrict your selection to all linear edges. By double-clicking an option, you will reselect all edges and faces.
By clicking the 3D Elements header you can "hide" the full list.
You use the elements area to select types of 3D elements. For example, when in Blend (Modify 3D), you can open the Select tool and by clicking on Circles in 3DElementsCreo Elements/Direct Modeling will select all circular edges. By clicking off Circles, you will return to the general selection mode (all edges) and can now click another type of 3D element.

Specify the scope
There are three settings for the scope:
To select in the active part, click Act Part.
To select in all parts, click All Parts.
To select in a specific part, click Sel Part, and specify the part.
To specify the 3D selection method for elements
3D elements can be selected using the following methods:
All - Selects all specified elements in your choice of the active part or all parts.
By Color - Selects all elements that meet the specified color restriction (for example, edges having the color red).
Render Mat - Selects all elements with a specified rendering material.
By Edge - Selects all specified elements that meet at the edge you click.
Chain - Selects a chain of smoothly-connected elements.
By Vertex - Selects all specified elements that meet at the vertex you click.
By Face - Selects all specified elements belonging to the face you click.
By Def Feat - Selects all specified elements belonging to the user-defined feature you click. If an element belongs to multiple defined features, a separate Browser for defined features is displayed. Select the applicable defined feature from this Browser.
By Rec Feat - Selects all specified elements that belong to the system recognized feature you click.
By Rib Feat - Selects all faces that define a rib.
By Slot Feat - Selects all faces that define a slot.
By Boss - Selects all faces that define a boss.
By Pocket - Selects all faces that define a pocket.
Comp Boss - Selects all faces that define a composite boss.
Comp Pocket - Selects all faces that define a composite pocket.
By Pattern - Selects all faces that are referenced by a selected pattern.
Geom Rules - Selects all faces that belong to the selected part or all parts and follow the same geometry rules. For example, you can select all axial cylindrical faces that have the same radius. For more information, see Select 3D elements using Geometry Rules.
By Facelist - Selects the edges of all the faces that you click in the viewport.
Boundary - Selects the edges that form the boundary of the area defined by all the faces that you click.
By VP Frame - Selects all elements that are contained within the projection of the specified frame drawn in the viewport.
By 3D Box - Selects all elements that are contained within a specified 3D box.
