The color systems
Creo Elements/Direct Modeling uses the same Color Editor to define the color of viewport lights, parts, and faces.
The Color Editor combines 2 different color systems:
HSL - Hue, Saturation, and Luminosity
RGB - Red, Green and Blue
Both color systems are linked. A change in one system will automatically result in a change in the other system.
HSL color:
The HSL color system allows you to select pure hues, and then mix white and black with them to lighten or darken them. The three parameters used are:
Hue
the pure color
Saturation
the ratio of pure color mixed with white
Luminosity
the brightness
The easiest way to achieve the desired result is to set Saturation and Luminosity to their highest value (1.0), and use the hue to select a color from the spectrum. Red is the color at both ends of the spectrum, 0 and 1.
Then you may adjust saturation and luminosity to modify the color intensity.
RGB color:
The RGB color system mixes the three additive primary colors: red, green, and blue.
To obtain the various colors available you specify the intensity of each of the three colors, the range being from 0 to 1 for each primary color.
A value of 0 for all three results in black, while a value of 1 for all three results in white.
