Granite save options
The Granite save options allow you to export a selected part or assembly in the Granite native (*.g) format. The Granite format allows Creo Parametric or other GRANITE applications to open the exported files.
You can save parts as Granite files. For parts, the file name and file name extension is automatically set. You can modify the file name in the structure browser.
You can also save assemblies and parts as Granite zip files with the .g.zip extension. Each Granite zip file is a compressed directory with all Granite files and an XML file (manifest.xml), which contains the name of the top-level assembly.
Supported Granite versions:
Granite Version
Creo Parametric Version
8.0
Creo Parametric or Creo Direct 2.0
9.0
Creo Parametric or Creo Direct 3.0
10.0
Creo Parametric 4.0 or Creo Direct 4.0
11.0
Creo Parametric 5.0 or Creo Direct 5.0
To export to Granite native formats,
1. Click File > Save in the main menu. The Save dialog box opens.
2. In File Type, select Granite / Granite zip (*.g*).
3. Click Options. The Write Creo Parametric/Direct dialog box opens. Set the following options:
Choose a Version of Granite.
*
In the Version box, you can choose a version up to Granite 11.0 (from Granite 8.0).
Click Export Containers to include the containers and their content in the export.
Click Export Face Parts to include the face parts in the export.
Click Export Wire Parts to include the wire parts in the export.
Click Export Empty Parts to include the empty parts in the export.
Click the Geometry sharing check box in the Write Creo Parametric/Direct dialog box to share geometry across disjoint faces. This results in a smaller model size. However, the model could lose attributes, like color, that are attached to the faces.
Click Statistics to save a log file, which contains statistics about the exported information.
4. Click Select in the Save dialog box.
5. Select the object to be exported in the viewport or in the Structure Browser.
*
You can only select a single object (part or assembly) to save in the neutral format.
6. Type the path for the exported file or use Browse.
7. Click Save.

Model exported to Granite
The image below shows a model with two disjoint faces on the same surface. One face is yellow, while the other face is red.
The first image below shows a model exported to Granite with geometry sharing. Both the disjoint faces are red.
The second image below shows a model exported to Granite without geometry sharing. The disjoint faces retain their original colors.
