Example: Sectioning a part with a face part
In this example you will split a part with a face part. Shown below are a face part, a part with the face part positioned inside, and the resulting split part.

The outer edges of the face part must be completely outside the part to split. Otherwise a split is impossible.
After importing or extracting the face part dryer_1, and positioning it correctly inside the part block_1.
1. Click Modeling and then, in the Model group, click the arrow next to Remove.
2. Click Section. The Section dialog box opens.
3. Next to Parts specify block_1 as the part to split. Use one of the following ways:
The part name appears automatically, if block_1 is the active part.
Click the part with the cursor.
Enter the part name "\block_1" in the user input line, including double quotes.
Enter the part name \block_1 in the data entry field next to Parts. including double quotes.
Click the part name in the Structure Browser.
4. Next to Tool specify dryer_1 as the face part for the split. Use one of the following ways:
Click Tool and then the face part with the cursor.
Enter the face part name "\dryer_1" in the user input line, including double quotes.
Enter the face part name \dryer_1 in the data entry field next to Tool.
Click Tool and then the face part name in the Structure Browser.
5. Click Keep Tool off.
6. Click to complete the operation.
Creo Elements/Direct Modeling splits the part block_1. You now remove the inner part of block_1 from the drawlist or delete it. The result is a part with a hollow shaped like the face part.
