Example: Creating a new part by adding a helix
In this example, you will sweep a profile (1) along a helical path defined by an axis (2) to create a new helical part (3). The pitch (4) of this part is indicated in the figure below.
Example: Creating a New Helical Part
After creating the workplanes, the profile, and the axis:
1. Click Modeling and then, in the Model group, click More.
2. Click Helix Add in Helix section. The Helix Add dialog box opens.
3. Enter the name of the new part.
4. Select the workplane containing the profile (1).
5. Select the axis (2).
6. Specify a value for the pitch.
7. Specify the number of turns. In the example shown below, the number of turns is 3.5.
8. (optional) Enter an approximate tolerance value less than .001mm.
9. Click to complete the operation.
