Named elements
You can name any 3D element, such as an edge, vertex, or face. The element name provides a clear and unique identifier when used together with the part and assembly name.
To display named elements in the Structure Browser,
1. Right-click in the Structure Browser.
2. Click Show to display the Structure Browser Show dialog box.
3. Click Element Names in the Misc tab.
To define a named element,
1. Click Feature and then, in the Element Names group, click New. The Define Element dialog box opens.
2. Select the 3D element you want to name.
3. Type an Element Name.
4. Click to complete the operation.
To rename a named element,
1. Click Feature and then, in the Element Names group, click More.
2. Click Rename in the Modify section.
3. Select the element you want to rename.
4. Type the new name of the element in the user input line, including double quotes, for example: "element2".
To highlight a named element,
1. Click Feature and then, in the Element Names group, click More.
2. Click Highlight in the Tools section.
3. Select the named element you want to highlight.
To inquire a named element,
1. Click Feature and then, in the Element Names group, click Inquire. The Inquire Element dialog box opens.
2. Select the named element you want to inquire.
3. Click to complete the operation.
To remove an element name,
1. Click Feature and then, in the Element Names group, click Delete.
2. Select the named element you want to remove.
3. Click to complete the operation.

The Remove action does not delete any 3D geometry; it removes only the name you have assigned to a 3D element.
