How to use the remote server update module
To access the remote server update module, you must first activate the Remote module, as follows:
1. Click File > Modules. The Modules dialog box opens.
2. Click Remote on the Modules pane. A new section (Remote) is activated in the Creo Elements/Direct Annotation File menu and the Remote dialog box opens.
Connect to the dispatcher
Click Dispatcher (on the Remote dialog box) to open the Dispatcher dialog box. In this dialog box, specify the following:
Host
The name of the server where the dispatcher software is loaded.
Port
The port assignment of the dispatcher. (Make sure this number matches the number entered in the Client Port box of the dispatcher configuration menu.) The default number is 2310.
Action
Connect (or disconnect) to the dispatch server. The buttons Job Status and Server Status (on the Remote dialog box) are inactive (grayed-out) until a successful connection has been made.
Check the job status
The Job Status dialog box shows the status of all the jobs that have been submitted to the dispatcher. It includes the following information:
Status shows the current status of a job:
Waiting
Starting
Running
Ready
Error
Job shows the job being processed.
Server shows the name of the server doing the processing.
Caller shows the name of the machine from which the job was submitted.
The only operation that can be performed is to cancel a job. To do this, highlight the job in the list and click Cancel Job. (The button toggles between Refresh and Cancel Job.)
You can only cancel your own jobs. Jobs from other clients can be canceled by the dispatcher administrator only.
If you want to be prompted when a job is ready, click Prompt and specify a time in seconds (60 or greater).
Check the server status
The Server Status dialog box shows which servers are available to you and their state (idle, busy, or suspended). You can use this information to submit a request to an idle server.
When the Remote module is active and a connection to a dispatcher has been made, a new section (Remote Update) is added to the Update dialog box in Creo Elements/Direct Annotation. Remote Update does not support graphic update mode.
To submit a remote request,
1. Click Annotation and then, in the Setup group, click Update View.
2. Select a view to update in the usual manner.
3. Under Remote Update, in the Mode list, click Submit.
4. Click to complete the operation.
To receive data, open the Update dialog box as described above, and click Receive in the Mode selection list.
You can only receive data for a job that has the status ready. If you attempt to retrieve a job that is not ready, the request is ignored.
