Modify dimension text
This section shows how to move and rotate existing dimension text and move complete dimensions. You can also reattach disconnected dimensions.
To move dimensions and dimension text,
To move the entire dimension, click anywhere on the dimension except the handles and drag it.
To move the dimension text only, press SHIFT, select the dimension text, and drag the text.
To attach the dimension to a different element, click the handle where the dimension is attached and drag it to the new element.
To modify a stagger, click an internal handle on a staggered line and drag it to a new position.
To rotate dimension text, change the value for Abs Angle on the Text Props pane of the Dimension Properties dialog box.
To open the Dimension Properties dialog box,
1. Click Annotation and then, in the Annotate group, click the arrow next to Properties.
2. Click Dimension.
3. Select a dimension in the viewport. The Dimension Properties dialog box opens.
If you are accustomed to our earlier versions, you can still use the original menus:
To move a complete dimension,
1. Click Annotation and then, in the Annotate group, click the arrow next to Mod Position.
2. Click Move Dim.
3. Select the dimension to move in the viewport.
4. Click the new location in the viewport for the dimension.
5. Continue moving dimensions or click to complete the operation.
To move dimension text without moving the dimension or extension lines,
1. Click Annotation and then, in the Annotate group, click the arrow next to Mod Position.
2. Click Move Dim Text.
3. Select the dimension text to move in the viewport.
4. Click the new location in the viewport for the dimension text.
5. Continue moving dimension text or click to complete the operation.
Dimension text that has been moved off the dimension line (but not rotated) can be restored to its original position on the line:
1. Click Annotation and then, in the Annotate group, click the arrow next to Mod Position.
2. Click Move Dim Text.
3. Select the dimension to restore.
Creo Elements/Direct Annotation indicates the original position of the dimension text on the dimension line.
4. Select the location for the dimension text on the dimension line to restore the position of the dimension text.
5. Continue restoring dimensions or click to complete the operation.
To rotate dimension text,
You can rotate existing dimension text. The angle you enter is absolute and measured from the dimension line.
1. Click Annotation and then, in the Annotate group, click the arrow next to Mod Position.
2. Click Rotate Dim Text. The Rotate Text dialog box opens.
3. Select the dimension text to rotate, define a selection box, or use the Select tool.
4. In the Abs Angle box, enter an absolute angle for the text.
5. Click to complete the operation.
