Draw straight geometry
This section describes how to add straight-edge geometry to your drawing.
1. Click Geometry and then, in the Draw group, click the arrow next to Line.
2. Choose one of the following:
To create a line by two points,
1. Click 2 Points in the Line section. The Line 2 Pos dialog box opens.
2. Click the begin and end points of the line, or enter their coordinates in the user input line.
To create a line with given length and angle,
1. Click Angle & Length in the Line section. The Line At an Angle dialog box opens.
2. Click the begin point of the line, or enter its coordinates in the user input line.
3. Enter the angle of the line with respect to the positive x-axis in the user input line (or click in the viewport).
4. Enter the length of the line (or click in the viewport).
To create a horizontal line,
1. Click Horizontal in the Line section. The Line Horizontal dialog box opens.
2. Click the begin point of the line, or enter its coordinates in the user input line.
3. Specify the end point of the line in one of the following ways:
Click the point, or enter its coordinates in the user input line.
Enter a length for the line in the user input line.
To create a vertical line,
1. Click Vertical in the Line section. The Line Vertical dialog box opens.
2. Click the begin point of the line, or enter its coordinates in the user input line.
3. Specify the end point of the line in one of the following ways:
Click the point, or enter its coordinates in the user input line.
Enter a length for the line in the user input line.
To create a parallel line,
You can draw a line parallel to an existing line. The new line is of the same length as the original line.
1. Click Parallel in the Line section. The Line Parallel to dialog box opens.
2. Click the existing line.
3. Click a point where you want the new line to be drawn.
Alternatively:
1. Click Parallel in the Line section. The Line Parallel to dialog box opens.
2. Enter the required distance between the existing line and the new line in the user input line. (You can enter a series of values.)
3. Click the existing line.
4. Click the positive side of the existing line (the side on which the parallel line should be drawn).
To create a perpendicular line,
1. Click Perpendicular in the Line section. The Line Perpend to dialog box opens.
2. Click the existing line to draw from perpendicularly.
3. Click an end point on the new line.
Alternatively:
1. Click Perpendicular in the Line section. The Line Perpend to dialog box opens.
2. Click the existing line.
3. Click a point on the existing line.
4. Specify the length of the perpendicular line in one of the following ways:
Enter the length of the perpendicular line in the user input line, and click the positive side of the existing line (the side on which the new line should be drawn).
Click the end point for the line.
To create a tangent from a point on an arc or circle,
This option enables you to draw a tangent to a circular element from a given point.
1. Click Tangent in the Line section. The Line Tangent dialog box opens.
2. Specify the approximate point of tangency on the circular element.
3. Specify the point from which the tangent should be drawn.
To create a tangent from two circular elements,
1. Click Tangent by 2 in the Line section. The Line Tangent 2 dialog box opens.
2. Specify the approximate points of tangency on each of two circular elements.
Creo Elements/Direct Annotation draws a tangent between the two circular elements from points of tangency closest to those specified.
To create a polygon,
1. Click Polygon in the Line section. The Polygon dialog box opens.
2. Specify the begin point, and then a sequence of vertex points of the polygon.
3. If desired, click the begin point to close the polygon.
Note that the result does not have to be a closed polygon. The lines are treated as individual elements and must therefore be deleted individually.
3. Continue drawing lines or click to complete the operation.
To draw a rectangle,
1. Click Geometry and then, in the Draw group, click Rectangle. The Rectangle dialog box opens.
2. Specify a corner point for the rectangle. Use one of the following ways:
Click a point.
Enter a coordinate in the user input line.
3. Specify the diagonally-opposite corner point of the rectangle.
Rectangles are created as whole entities, but the system treats them as four individual line elements. This means that the sides of a rectangle must be deleted individually.
