Convert thread dimensions
A thread feature such as a hole or screw is generated in 3D. After making a 2D view, you can add a dimension that shows all the thread data - called a thread dimension. This data is retrieved from infotexts and displayed as Prefix/Postfix. If you modify the thread feature in 3D (and update the view in 2D), that change must be reflected in the thread dimensions. The information to be displayed in the thread dimension is written to infotexts using keywords so that the system can identify what data is added by the user and what data are thread values. Old thread dimensions do not have the ability to identify what is user data and what is thread data so the system will reset all data upon an update.
You can convert old thread dimensions to new thread dimensions in two ways:
Automatically by Creo Elements/Direct Annotation.
Manually with the Convert Thread Dim command.
When Creo Elements/Direct Annotation does not automatically convert the dimensions, a dialog displays with a message about the non-converted dimensions. Manually convert the old thread dimensions not converted during load with the Convert Thread Dim command.
When an old thread dimension is loaded into Creo Elements/Direct Annotation, the system compares the existing format with the current thread dimension settings.
If the appearance of the old thread dimension matches the current settings, Creo Elements/Direct Annotation automatically converts the dimensions to the new format.
If the appearance of the old thread dimension does not match the current settings, they will remain in the old format.
To convert a thread dimension,
*
You must have a thread dimension for this command to work.
1. Click Annotation and then, in the Annotate group, click More.
2. Click Convert Thread Dim in the Dimension section. The Convert Thread Dim dialog box opens.
3. The thread dimensions are displayed in Prefix, Main, and Postfix. You can accept or change their values and click Apply.
After you click Apply, Creo Elements/Direct Annotation selects the next thread dimension and the dialog displays that thread dimension information. Creo Elements/Direct Annotation highlights old thread dimensions in blue and currently selected old thread dimensions in yellow.
4. Select from the following options:
Sheet: The sheet that contains the dimensions. Select a sheet from the drop-down list. After you click Apply and a dimension is located on another sheet, the dialog automatically selects the next sheet.
Dimensions: The number of dimensions to be converted on a sheet. This field cannot be edited.
Apply: Apply the new thread dimension information for Prefix, Main, and Postfix. Continue to click Apply until all thread dimensions are converted.
Skip: Skip a thread dimension and go on to the next one. This dimension will not be converted and will retain its old values.
5. Continue to click Apply until all thread dimensions are converted.
6. Click OK.
If the thread dimension conversion to a keyword was not successful, change the keyword:
1. Click Format in Prefix, Main, or Postfix. The Customized Thread Dimension table appears.
2. Click Values. A list of thread dimensions appears.
3. Click a dimension and click Apply.
