Check services and test clients
Several services were added when you installed Creo Elements/Direct Manager Server. You should check the services to make sure they start correctly.
Oracle
The following Oracle services should be started and set to automatically start:
OracleServiceSID (where the default SID is WM) is required, and should be set to automatically start. Most other Oracle services can be disabled if you need to reduce the amount of memory (RAM) used on the computer.
OracleOraDb11g_home1TNSListener (for Oracle 11g) should be set to automatically start.
SQL Server 2008
One of the following SQL Server 2008 services should be started and set to automatically start:
SQL Server (MSSQLSERVER) (if you installed a default instance from Standard, Workgroup, or Enterprise)
SQL Server (SQLEXPRESS) (if you used the default settings from Express)
SQL Server (your_named_instance) (if you installed a Named instance)
If your SQL Server 2008 database is on a different machine from your Creo Elements/Direct Manager Database Server, the following service should be set to automatically start:
SQL Server Browser
Creo Elements/Direct
The following Creo Elements/Direct services should be started and set to automatically start:
Creo Elements Direct Manager Database Server - for all installations

Creo Elements Direct Manager Web Multiplexer - only if you installed the Web Server
Creo Elements Direct Manager Web Server n - only if you installed the Web Server (from 1 to n Web Servers, depending on how many were installed)
Creo Elements Direct Manager Web Services Server - for all installations
To verify that the Creo Elements/Direct servers started correctly:
1. Go to your computer's Control Panel.
2. Double-click Administrative Tools.
3. Double-click Services.
4. Verify that the Creo Elements/Direct services are started.
The most common cause of failure is a missing or incorrect license server address.
If the services have not started, try checking the Event Viewer for more information:
1. Go to your computer's Control Panel.
2. Double-click Administrative Tools.
3. Double-click Event Viewer.
4. Double-click an entry to view detailed information. The most recent events appear at the top of the list.
If the Event Viewer indicates that you are having problems with the License Server, try viewing the License Server details page at http://hostname:17171, where hostname is the name of your license server computer. Remember, you must have the correct passwords for your version of Creo Elements/Direct Manager Server. Contact technical support if you need updated passwords.
If you still have problems starting the services, contact Creo Elements/Direct technical support. Do not proceed until you can verify that the services have started.
Test the Creo Elements/Direct Manager Server Client
Start the Creo Elements/Direct Manager Server Client:
1. Choose Start > Programs > PTC > Creo Elements Direct Manager Server 19.0 > Manager Server 19.0 Client.

If you installed Creo Elements/Direct Design Data Management, the client application will be slightly different from the basic client. Please refer to the User Guides for the appropriate client for detailed instructions.
