XVL
The XVL® (eXtensible Virtual world description Language) format is a high fidelity, compressed format for 3D models, developed by Lattice Group.
Creo Elements/Direct Model Manager can version XVL files. Creo Elements/Direct Model Manager maintains links between an XVL file and the model or drawing from which it was derived. You must save the model or drawing before saving the XVL file so Creo Elements/Direct Model Manager can create the links between them.
You can save multiple XVL files with each version of a model or drawing. For example, you could have one XVL file for a design review and another for manufacturing.
There are two XVL file formats:
P-XVL file (Precise XVL)
P-XVL files are highly compressed with curved-surface and curve data structures comparable to 3D-CAD. Use P-XVL files when you need the highest level of accuracy. P-XVL files have a .xv3 suffix.
V-XVL file (Visual XVL)
V-XVL files read data at high speed and save memory, but are less accurate than P-XVL files. Use V-XVL files when speed and file size are more important than the level of accuracy. V-XVL files have a .xv2 suffix.
XVL® is a trademark of Lattice Technology.
