Load types
A load type determines the kind of data to load into Creo Elements/Direct Modeling.
When you work on a very large assembly you can decrease load time and improve Creo Elements/Direct Modeling performance by only loading the full model files for models you plan to modify.
Creo Elements/Direct Model Manager saves several types of model data, including:
The full 3D model, with geometry.
A lightweight model, which is a graphical representation of a 3D model without the geometry. The lightweight model uses less memory and loads faster than the full model.
Information about the model, also called metadata, which is stored in the Creo Elements/Direct Manager Server database.
Creo Elements/Direct Model Manager provides following load types:
To Full - loads the full model and the metadata. You can see and modify the model. Full uses the most memory.
Choose Full Geometry if you want to modify the model or are using design simplifications.
To Partial - loads only the structure and metadata. The model will be listed in the Creo Elements/Direct Modeling Structure Browser, but you cannot see the model in the viewport. Partial uses the least amount of memory.
Choose Partial if you do not need to see the model in the Creo Elements/Direct Modeling viewport.
To Lightweight - loads only the lightweight model and metadata. Design simplifications do not have lightweight models.
Choose Lightweight Model if you are working on other models in the assembly, but want to see this model in the viewport. Or, if you later decide to modify a part you originally loaded as a lightweight model, Creo Elements/Direct Modeling will automatically reload that part’s full geometry from Creo Elements/Direct Model Manager. You can modify the part as usual.
Depending on your settings in Creo Elements/Direct Modeling, you can load lightweight models even faster and with using less memory. In Creo Elements/Direct Modeling, click File > Settings > 3D Object. The 3D-Object Settings dialog box opens. In the Part Load pane, click either one or both of the Without Edges and the Without Vertices & Labels check boxes.
By 3D Box - changes the load type of the neighboring models of a reference model. The neighboring models include all the models which are in the proximity of a user-defined 3D box around the reference model. You can also choose to change the load type of the reference model. The reference model and the neighboring models must be loaded in the Creo Elements/Direct Modeling session.
For the models which are stored in the database from a Creo Elements/Direct Modeling version 17.0 or higher, information related to the position and the volume of the 3D box is also stored in the database. Hence, the partially loaded models or the lightweight models can be easily reloaded from the database.
For models which are stored in the database from a Creo Elements/Direct Modeling version before 17.0, there is no information in the database about their 3D box. To add the 3D box information for such models in the database, click File > Model Manager > Add > Bounding Box in Creo Elements/Direct Modeling.
Reload a model or use the Change Load Type command from the Creo Elements/Direct Modeling Structure Browser to choose a different load type. The Change Load Type command is only meant to be used on single parts, so it is much slower than reload or update on multiple items.
You can configure a default load type in your user preference.
