Create a BOM Checkpoint
A BOM Checkpoint is a snapshot of a BOM at a particular point in time. For example, you may want to keep a record of a BOM when a product is sent to manufacturing. Create a BOM Checkpoint and you'll always have access to that BOM, even if the Masterdata is deleted.
Checkpoints are only deleted when all the components of Checkpoint have been deleted. For example, if you delete an entire assembly for which you created a Checkpoint, the Checkpoint is also deleted. However, as long as one components of the assembly still exists, so does the Checkpoint.
Use the BOM Editor to save and open Checkpoints. Once you've saved a Checkpoint you can
Load a BOM Checkpoint.
Generate reports from the BOM Checkpoint.
Compare the BOM Checkpoint with another BOM Checkpoint or BOM version.
To create a Checkpoint,
1. Select an assembly and open the BOM Editor.
2. Click Save Checkpoint.
3. Type a name for the Checkpoint. You'll use this name to identify the Checkpoint. For example, you might choose the name BOM sent to customer A.
4. Click OK and now you have a Checkpoint of that BOM.
To open a Checkpoint,
1. Select an assembly and open the BOM Editor.
2. Click Open Checkpoint .
3. Select the checkpoint you want to open in the Select BOM Checkpoint menu.
4. Click Open. The Checkpoint opens. From here, you can send the checkpoint to HTML, Excel, or CSV, open another checkpoint, do a compare, or generate a report.
Create a Checkpoint for a large assembly (Assembly A). Then open the BOM Editor from a sub-assembly of that large assembly (Assembly B) and create a Checkpoint.
If you Open Checkpoint for Assembly A, you will see only one Checkpoint listed under Checkpoints for 'Assembly A'.
If you Open Checkpoint for Assembly B, you will see Checkpoints for both assemblies: Assembly B will be listed under Checkpoints for 'Assembly B' and Assembly A will be listed under Parent Checkpoints.
