SDEXP files
An SDEXP file is a file that contains a group of models and assemblies, similar to a Creo Elements/Direct Modeling package file. It is cpio format, which is like a zip file.
SDEXP files are the best format for giving model and assembly data to someone who does not have access to your Creo Elements/Direct Manager Server database. For example, if you need to send a complex assembly to a contractor.
With a package file, you must load the assembly into Modeling, being careful to load the correct versions and simplifications for each of the subassemblies. Once the assembly is loaded, you create the package file in Modeling.
With an SDEXP file, you just select the assembly in Creo Elements/Direct Drawing Manager and export it, selecting the appropriate load rules and simplifications. This process is both faster and less error-prone than creating a package file.
