Check Constraints
As you might guess, many different combinations of constraints can be used to fully constrain a part. Some combinations make more sense than others. AUTO attempts to generate a reasonable set of constraints, but its decisions may not always be suitable for your application.
Therefore, you should always check the constraints on your part after running AUTO to make sure they are useful for your application. Usually they will be, but occasionally you may need to change a few of AUTO's choices.
For this example, you need only look at the constraints briefly.
1. Select SHOW and User and All Types from MENU 2. This displays all the constraints you set by hand; i.e., the two reference-element constraints.
2. Select SHOW and System and Point On. These are constraints assigned by AUTO.
3. Show all the system constraints (SHOW System All Types).
4. Select CLEAR, System, and Point On. Only the point-on icons disappear.
5. Select CLEAR All Types.
6. Select SHOW Dimension. Notice that dimensional constraints don't have icons; instead, the color of the dimension text changes.
