Measuring Distances
The Measure functions allow you to obtain values for arc lengths, distances, point coordinates, angles, and areas. These functions are useful if you need to enter a value measured from existing features on the drawing. To illustrate this, consider the following example.
Suppose you want to draw a vertical line starting at 100,100 and of the same length as an existing line drawn at an angle of 40 degrees:
1. Pull down the Tools menu.
2. Click Measure and Length.
3. Click the existing line. The measured length of this line is displayed in the User Input Line.
4. Click Line in Geometry.
5. Click Vertical in Line.
6. Specify the begin point of the vertical line you want to create.
7. When prompted for the end point or the length of this vertical line, simply display the measured length in the User Input Line and press [Enter]. Creo Elements/Direct Drafting draws the vertical line as specified. The length of this line is the same as that of the line you measured.
