Examine Constraints
When AUTO finishes, you should always check the part to make sure that a reasonable set of constraints has been assigned. Check the following:
1. Are all important dimensions constrained?
Select SHOW and Dimension on MENU 2. Notice that the dimension for the top of the plate has not been constrained. This is not needed in this case because other constraints fix this line.
2. Are there any Distance or Size constraints? AUTO usually only assigns these constraints as a "last resort" if it can find no other way to constrain an element. A distance-constrained element may move along with other elements when it not intended to. Select SHOW Size and SHOW Distance to display any instances of these constraints.
An alternate way to check the constraints on your part is with Inquire Element and ICON Inquire on MENU 4. For this example, you can use Inquire Element to see how AUTO used the symmetry lines you defined to constrain components of the center circle:
1. Go to MENU 4.
2. Select Inquire Element.
3. Pick on each line in the dimensioned slot of the part. Notice how mirror constraints were extracted for each element in the slot. Try picking on other components around the center circle.
4. Select CLEAR, All Types, and END when you have finished with Inquire Element.
