Dividing a Spline
The SUBDIV SPL command divides a spline into equal lengths.
Dividing splines into equal lengths is useful, for example, when designing the shape of a ship's hull and you need to divide the ribs (rib-cage) into equal lengths.
You can tell Creo Elements/Direct Drafting to calculate equal segments or specify segments by picking points.
Dividing a Spline
To divide a spline into equal segments (spline 1):
1. Pick SUBDIV SPL in the CREATE menu.
2. Identify the spline.
3. Enter a value for the number of segments you want (for example, 4).
Creo Elements/Direct Drafting divides the spline into 4 equal lengths.
To divide a spline by specifying points (spline 2):
1. Draw a spline (covering about 40 mm of horizontal workspace).
2. Pick SUBDIV SPL in the CREATE menu.
3. Identify the spline.
4. Pick a point 3 on the spline.
5. Enter the values: 5 10 30.
Creo Elements/Direct Drafting inserts a marker at distances of 5 mm, 10 mm, and 30 mm from point 3. If the specified distance is outside that of the spline, Creo Elements/Direct Drafting does not insert a marker. Markers are inserted in the same direction that the spline was created. If you enter negative values (for example, -5, -10), markers are inserted in the opposite direction.
