Measure an angle from a direction
To measure an angle from a direction
1. Click
Analysis and then, in the
Measure group, click the arrow next to
Angle.
2. Click
Angle. The
Measure Output and
Angle dialog boxes open.
3. Click Direction in the Angle dialog box.
4. Specify the direction whose angle you want to measure (using the options in the Angle dialog box).
5. Specify the reference object, using one of the following ways:
◦ To calculate the angle relative to an edge, clickEdge and click the edge.
◦ To calculate the angle relative to a face's normal direction, click Face and click the face.
◦ To calculate the angle relative to a workplane's normal direction, click Workplane and specify the workplane.
◦ To calculate the angle relative to another direction, specify the direction (using the options in the Direction 3D CoPilot).
The viewer displays graphical feedback representing the angle and displays the angle value in the Angle Output box.
6. You can manipulate the angle in the following ways:
◦ By reversing the first object's direction. Click Rev 1st Dir.
◦ By reversing the second object's direction. Click Rev 2nd Dir.
◦ By reversing the first object's direction with the second, and the second object's direction with the first. Click Switch Dir.
◦ By measuring the complement angle. Click Complement.
The viewer updates the graphical feedback representing the angle and displays the new angle value in the Angle Output box.
7. Click
to complete the operation or click
Accept to use the value in an operation without closing the
Angle dialog box.
