In-place Edit of Work Items
You can edit the field values of the items in Table View if you have the necessary permissions. To edit a field value, double-click the value and edit the value in the In-place editor. The In-place editing is supported for the following field types:
Text fields
Number fields (Integer, Decimal)
Duration fields
Date fields
Choice fields (including member and reference fields)
Boolean fields
Color fields
Wikitext fields
Table fields and the fields that are always read-only such as Submitted on/at, Assigned on/at, Modified on/at, Modified by etc are not supported. You cannot change the value of the Status field using the in-place editor. However, you can use the transition action menu for status change.
If you edit a wikitext field using the in-place editor, the toolbar is displayed under the Filter Widget. You can use Save or Cancel in the tool bar to save or cancel the changes. You can also use the Ctrl+S hotkey to save the changes.
If you edit any other field, you can press ENTER to save or ESC to cancel the changes. Also, if you click outside the input editor, the changes are saved automatically.
*
You can use in-place edit only for one field value of one item at the same time.
If you click a reference type field, you can add items by searching for its name or exact ID. This is the default behavior. You can also search by using partial ID and tracker key. For more information, refer to enableTrackerKeyTypeBasedSearch in "features".
The referenceFieldAutocompleteLimit also helps in managing the reference options allowed for inline editing. For more information on the parameter, refer "referenceField".
