Round-trip Workflow
You can export work items from Codebeamer using the Round-trip Excel Export option in the export wizard. The Round-trip Excel Export feature exports data into an Excel document, allows you to make changes in the exported document, and import those changes back into Codebeamer.
With Round-trip Excel Export you can:
• Export all data displayed in the current view
• Or export the selected items only. Use the check boxes or control-clicking in the tree in the Document View mode to pick the items which need to be exported. The selected items’ children are optionally exported.
To export work items, such as requirements, tasks, or bugs:
1. Open the tracker that contains the items that need to be exported.
2. Switch to the list view.
3. From the more menu

, select the
Export to Office option, the export to MS Word, MS Excel, or MS Project wizard opens.
4. Select the Round-trip Excel Export option to perform the round-trip excel export operation
The export contains fields which are available inside the view and only those items which are matching with the current view.
When the Excel export is selected Codebeamer builds an Excel document which contains the items displayed by the current view. The Excel document is then automatically downloaded. The generated file name contains the current project's and tracker's name, therefore it is easier to identify later where that export file originated from.
Customizing Export Content Using Custom Views
The export content is, by default, controlled by the tracker's configuration. Only the fields and data of the tracker are exported.
To export or view the work items of a tracker differently, such as adding or removing fields from the export or changing the order of the fields, you can create a custom view for the tracker. To create a custom view for the tracker, click the

, a dialog box appears where you select the required field and click Save as to define the new view for the tracker.
