Baselines
In Codebeamer, you can create baselines to capture the current state of the item. Baselines are snapshots, but not copies of the item. Instead, baselines are references to the current version of the item at a specific time.
The baseline feature is available for the following entities:
Projects
Trackers
Document folders (directories)
When a project baseline is created, a snapshot of the following artifacts is saved:
Tracker items
Documents
Comments
Attachments
Baselines can be created for all types of trackers, such as requirements, bugs, tasks, user stories and so on. The tracker and directory baselines are a snapshot of the artifact from which the baseline was created.
You can manage project, tracker, and document baselines from the from the BASELINES page. For tracker baselines, the source tracker from which the baseline is created is shown below the baseline name.
Benefits of baselines are as follows:
See an older snapshot to review the content of the item.
Compare baselines.
For audit purposes and to identify deviations through comparison.
Maintain wiki pages for multiple releases.
Once a baseline is created, items cannot be added, removed, or edited. The new baseline has the same access permissions as its source directory. If you delete the directory, the baseline is deleted. When you copy the source directory, the baseline is not copied.
To use the baselines feature, you need to have the following permissions:
Baselines - View: allows users to view baselines in a project.
Baselines - Admin: allows users to administer baselines in a project.
