Managing Work Items in Planner
Filtering Work Items
Planner enables you to filter through the items in the center panel.
You can filter work items against:
Their current release, sprint or backlog: by clicking a tab in the left panel.
Their current assignee by clicking a row in the Members table on the left.
Their current team by clicking a row in the Teams table on the left.
Their referenced requirement and user story by clicking a row in the Relations table on the left.
Free text match by entering search terms in the filter box at the top. Items that do not contain the entered term will be hidden from your view.
Work Item Type by using the dropdown in the action bar.
You can also use the Filter Widget
Clickable filters can be removed by clicking again on the same UI element.
Moving Work Items from Product Backlog to a Sprint or Release
To move products from the Product Backlog, use the drag-and drop operation ,in-place editing ,reassigning , and filtering.
To assign work items to a specific release or sprint, use the drag-and-drop operation to move them to that (sub)release on the left; possible drop targets will be highlighted.
Another alternative,work item context menu will suggest where to move the item or send it back to the release or project backlog.
Moving an Individual Work Item to a Different Release
Individual items can be moved to other sprints within the same release and other release backlogs (ordered and unordered parts).:

Moving all Work Items to a Different Release
To move all Work Items from a sprint or release to a different one, use the specialized functions accessible from the context menus.
Only open Work Items will be moved to the target sprint or release. These context menus contain menu options for all sprints from the same release, and the first 10 releases.
The same functionality also exists on the Kanban Board and the Release Dashboard.
