Creating Tracker Item Templates
Users with Public View and Item Template permission are able to create public item templates. These templates are available for other users, but are only editable for users with the permission. Users without this permission can only create private item templates, which are only available for, and editable by the owners. Creating tracker item templates is available from the following places:
• Item details page.
• Context menu of the item in table view.
• Context menu of the item in document view.
• Right clicking an item on the left tree (in document view and document edit view).
When creating a new tracker item template, the field values of the selected item are saved as default for new items created based on the template.

Only those field values are saved to a template, where the user has write permission.

Reminder, Tags, Associations, Downstream References, Attachments/Comments, Spent Effort, Status values are not copied from the template.

Create a Tracker Item Template
To create a new tracker item template, do the following:
1. Choose an item for the basis of the new template.
2. Navigate to either of the places mentioned above.
3. In the context menu of the item, choose Save as Item Template option.
4. Add a name, and optionally, a description to the template.
5. Optionally, select the Public check box to make the template public.
6. To overwrite an existing item template, click Overwrite Existing tab and selecting the template to be overwritten.
7. Click Submit to save the changes.
