Staff
You may want to configure greater control on the work item level that allows the process owner to define who can play a specific role for that item.
This feature is called staffing.
To enable staffing for items in a tracker, you must grant permissions to the Stafffield:
The item details screen will include a Staff tab in which you can edit roles that have members.
For example, A task Demonstrate Staff, where the role Developer is exclusively assigned to the user klaus and Tester to zoltan:
Staff members are a subset of project members in that role. You can assign individuals but not roles.
For example, members of the Codebeamer project:
By assigning staff members, you revoke that role, along with the item, from all other project members in that role.
For example:
• sandor has the role Tester in the project; however, he is not a tester in the task Demonstrate Staff.
He does not have access to that task because Tester was his only role.
• zoltan, is initially Developer and Tester in the project, but loses his Developer in the project, but loses hisTester role.
For roles without staff assignments, the default project members in that role apply.
Using Staff assignment gives you full control over the flow of responsibility, even if it is not you that will assign the work item to workers in a later stage. .
