Linking Requirements with Test Cases
*
This functionality is available only in the document view of requirements trackers.
On requirements document view, you can link requirements to the test cases that verify them. The first tab of the right panel contains a tree of test cases.
To link a test case to a requirement, drag and drop the test case from the right panel to the target requirement in the tree. After dropping the test case in the requirements tree, a screen appears with the following options:
Verify Requirement with the original Test Case—If you select this option, it sets the Verifies field of the test case to the target requirement and creates an association of type depends between the items. When the requirement changes, the flag is set on the association, and the test case issue is marked as being changed.
Make a copy of the Test Cases and verify the Requirement with the copies—This option copies the test cases and sets the Verifies field and the association on the copy issues. After selecting this option, you must select the tracker to which you want to copy the test cases.
*
If the tracker configuration of the source and target test case trackers is different, you must manually map the fields.
You can select a baseline during the linking process. If a baseline is selected, the Depends associations that are created between the test cases and requirement will point to the baseline version of the requirement.
Linking requirements with incompatible Test Cases
Test case trackers may not be compatible with the requirements tracker. if their Verifies field does not accept items from the requirements tracker. You can copy these test cases to requirements but only the Make a copy of the Test Cases and verify the Requirement with the copies option is available for them.
