Composing Test Sets from Other Included Test Sets
For simpler test scenarios, test sets can be built by adding individual test cases to the test sets. As the number of tests grows, the test architects may want to compose smaller or larger groups of test cases into test sets and then build larger test sets using the small test sets as building blocks.
Test sets can include other test sets. If the included test sets are changed, for example, by adding or deleting test cases from the included test sets, these changes are automatically reflected in the larger test set.
To include a test set into your current test set, drag-and-drop the desired test set into the
Test Cases & Sets selection pane. The dropped test set appears in the test case or the test set listing. For more information on creating test sets, see
Creating Test Sets.
You can create a combination of test cases and test sets inside a larger test set as required.
Consider the following when creating a combination of test cases and test sets:
• When a test set is dropped into the test set editor, it is not expanded to show its test cases.
• The included test sets and test cases can be differentiated by the icons appearing below their names.
• An included test set can be expanded to show its test cases .
After a composite test set is saved you can view the detailed test set or test case hierarchy by clicking the corresponding down-arrow.
