Managing Project Members
When you create a project, you can add other users to it to set up your team. Users added to your project become project members. To organize members in your team structure, you must assign the correct roles to each member.
Assign Roles to Members
A good practice is to set up the project roles (or custom roles) in advance when you create your project, by enabling the appropriate role-access rights. Later, when your team is finalized, you can assign roles to members.
To edit the members list:
1. click a project.
2. On the
Admin tab, click

and select
Members.
3. Click Add new Member or, for an existing member, select Edit on the context menu of the user (or simply drag the user to a role).
4. For a new member fill in the desired information and click Save.
Dropping a user to a role
You can directly assign a role to a user by dragging a user to any of the roles displayed in the ROLES pane of the Members dialog box.
Exporting members
Project administrators can export the members and the groups of the project to Excel. To do this, click Export Members on the members’ page. This downloads an Excel file that has two sheets. The first sheet lists all the users of the project, while the second one lists the groups.
Assign Roles to Groups
You can assign a role to a group instead of assigning to individual members. A group - which is a collection of users - can map to your organizational structure. For example, if you want to assign people from the sales or marketing departments to your project, you can create a guest group for them, and assign the My guest role in the project to the guest group. The My guest role must have sufficient privileges to access the document manager, the wiki, and the forums, but you can prevent them from using the trackers and from accessing the source code in your SCM system.
| Groups can be administered only by the System Administrator. See Managing Groups. |
You can add groups to roles by clicking Add new Group link, where you can select a group and assign it a single or multiple roles.
