Creating Baselines from Releases
Baselines contain a snapshot of the state of the release as of when the baseline was created. Any change made to the release after the baseline is created is not reflected in the baseline. Release baselines thus play a crucial role in establishing snapshots of a release at different stages, throughout the release cycle. For more information on baselines, see
Baselines.
In the baseline view of a release, you can do the following:
• Generate Release Notes: You can generate release notes using the
Export Release Notes feature. In the baseline view, this feature exports only the items available in the baseline. For more information on generating release notes, see
Generating Release Notes.
• Send to Review Hub: You can send items and documents to the Review Hub for review. Only the items included in the release at the time of baseline creation are added to the review. The items added to the review are the baseline version of the items. This baseline is stored in the review hub as review creation baseline. For more information on the Review Hub, see
About Review Hub.
• Access Releases and Sprints from the Releases Tree: The Releases tree in the baseline view functions in the same way as the Releases tree in the Head Revision. You can access all the releases and sprints which are a part of the baseline from the Releases tree on the right. Any releases or sprints added to the project after the baseline was created are not visible under the baseline view Releases tree.
Points to Consider in the Release Baseline View
• The Traceability Report if is accessed from the release baseline view, also opens in the baseline view.
• In release baseline view the Members, Project, Team, Status, Priority, and Type filters work on the data available at the time of baseline creation.
Limitations in the Releases Baseline View
• Baseline views are read-only. You cannot add new sprints in the release baseline view or send items from the release to the sprints.
• In the baseline view, the Release Dashboard reflects the structure of the release based on the time when the baseline was created.
• If a release or a sprint did not exists at the time of the baseline creation and you try to access the baseline from that release, the Access Denied page is displayed. If the release had sprints at the time of baseline creation, then the sprints are listed on the Release Dashboard page.
• The following functions under the

menu for the items in the baseline are not available in the baseline view:
◦ New Sprint
◦ Generate Next Sprint
◦ Bubble Chart
◦ Save as Item Template
◦ Send open Items
The following features on the Release Dashboard are also not available in the release baseline view:
◦ Kanban Board
◦ Plan Releases
◦ Test Coverage
◦ Save tree state
◦ Test Run Visibility filters
◦ Reference View Settings under the

menu for the tracker.
◦ Changing the state transitions from the

icon besides the release name.
◦ Burn Down chart and Gantt chart
