Release Gantt Chart
The Release Gantt Chart displays releases and sprints as a chart. Here, you can alter thePlanned Start-of-Work or Planned Release Date field and the Release Method field if it is present.
The Release Gantt Chart is part of the Release Dashboard. First, a release must be selected on the Release Dashboard, which opens the release-specific page. It can be revealed by clicking Release Gantt Chart.
The Release Gantt Chart has the following sections:
• Information bar–Displays a list of releases and sprints, which are indicated with placeholders.
• Chart–Main visual component, showing releases and sprints as vertical bars. Progress is shown as a numeric value and depicted in green to indicate completion status.
• Action link–Allows users to view the chart on different time scales.
• Lower border–Enables resizing of the chart component, offering customization of the display to fit user preferences.
In this example none of the releases or sprints has the Planned Start-of-Work or Planned Release Date fields set. This is why the Information Bar lists all of them, and Not Planned text is shown next to their description. The chart displays all of them using the same placeholder schedule. And this is how the chart would like with properly scheduled release and sprints:
Releases with Release Method Field
The Release Method field is represented by vertical bars, each with a unique pattern that corresponds to the selected Release Method. You can customize the Release Method field on the Release Tracker’s configuration page and Release Method Options page.
Altering Releases on the Release Gantt Chart
Adjusting Dates and Durations in the Release Gantt Chart
The Release Gantt Chart displays releases and included sprints and provides an interactive way to adjust the Planned Start-of-Work or Planned Release Date fields for releases or sprints. To adjust dates, hover the mouse cursor over the edge of a release or sprint’s vertical bar to reveal circle markers and a wide handle. To modify the length, click and hold the left mouse button on the handle to drag the edge of the vertical bar, altering the start or release date and consequently the duration of the release or sprint.
To move the vertical bar along the timeline, move the mouse cursor over the middle of the bar and click and drag the bar. This moves the vertical bar along the timeline. The length of the release or sprint does not change, but both the Planned Start-of-Work or Planned Release Date fields will be updated..
| The tooltip displayed during drag operations always shows the actual dates. |
Pop-up Editor
For precise date selection, a pop-up editor with datepicker is available. It can be accessed by double clicking the vertical bar.
The value of the Release Method field can be modified. This is applicable only for Release Trackers that have a Release Method field.
Permissions
To manage releases or sprints within a Release Tracker, users need to have the following appropriate permissions:Item- Edit Anyor Item – Edit if Owner. These permissions can be configured by the project administrator on the Release Tracker configuration page. If a user lacks the necessary permissions to modify the releases or sprints, they can still view the chart, but a tooltip message will inform them that they cannot make changes due to insufficient permissions.
