Importing Multiple Items including Rich Content and Images from External Sources
Consider the following task: you have a lot of rich text-content formatted as HTML, including images, external to Codebeamer, and you want to import that content easily and create several requirements of other items in the process.
Here is how you can do this:
• Prepare an HTML file that contains all information you want to import. This HTML should contain only one HTML table, where each row becomes one requirement/item in Codebeamer, and each cell can contain HTML formatted text. If your content contains images, these images should display when you open this HTML file in a web browser.
• Open this HTML in a Microsoft Word and check that all content and images appear correctly in Word.
• In the document , click > , and then click Edit links to Files. Select all images, and click Save picture in document. This embeds all images in the Word document.
• Save the Word document as .docx format.
• Click the desired tracker in Codebeamer where you want to import items and start an import. Upload the just saved .docx file and choose Import Word Table option. This imports the HTML table from the original HTML.
• Perform the import mapping: map any fields you want to import. Your Description field can contain rich text, so the HTML rich text with images can be mapped to here. You can also map and import any other fields (for example, Status, Priority and so on).
• Complete the import and verify the result. The images and rich text appear.
