Importing from Excel into Several Trackers–How to Import Complex Test Set and Test Case Hierarchies
This topic shows how to import a complex test set hierarchy with several test sets that contain other test sets and test cases.
The test set hierarchy we want to import for this example is Test Set Hierarchy.xlsx. This Excel document contains two sheets: one with the test cases and one with the test sets, shown in the following image:
The Top Level Test Set contains two other test sets: Test Set 1 and Test Set 2. The Top Level Test Set is also the parent of Test Set 1 and Test Set 2. This relationship is enforced by the indentation for the test set names in the A column. Test Set 1 and Test Set 2 each contain two test cases.
The following video demonstrates how to import this hierarchy:
Workaround for Legacy Trackers: if a Test Set Import Fails
In the case of a legacy test set tracker, the import fails with an error similar to:Test Cases [1].Test Case is not a valid reference value,as seen in the following image:
To resolve this error, update the Test Cases field in the Test Set configuration to allow all Test Set typed items as shown in the following image:
