You can specify subprocessEnvironment to have Arbortext Publishing Engine set the environment variables of the Arbortext PE Unterprozesse. To ensure that Arbortext PE Unterprozesse have the expected values for environment variables, set them using the subprocessEnvironment parameter for each Arbortext PE Unterprozess pool in the e3config.xml.

If you are using the Tomcat servlet container, be aware that newer versions clear some environment variables, such as CLASSPATH, and then set them to values needed by Tomcat prior to starting the Tomcat servlet container.

Any other variables in the Arbortext Publishing Engine environment are passed to its Arbortext PE Unterprozesse unchanged.
