Editing in the Document Map View
In this view, the Document Map occupies the entire window. You this view as an alternative to tags-on editing in the Edit View. The advantage to using this view is that the document structure is clearly presented, even while you can add and edit content with a tags-off feel.
The disadvantage to using this view is that some of the formatting might not be visible. For instance, you might not see titles in the larger font size you see in the Edit view. Also, your inline elements might each appear on a separate line in the Document Map, making the viewing of blocks of text awkward. You can change the behavior of elements in the Document Map view by configuring them in the document type's
.dcf file.
Some authors prefer this view for all of their authoring. You can still add content in this view, as well as adding and rearranging structure. Text content in this view can be viewed in a single extended line or as wrapped text.
Document Map preferences are set in the View category of the Preferences dialog box and in the Advanced preferences.
