Coding Page Ranges in an Index
An indexterm in a document section can be coded to reference a range of pages rather than an individual page (for example, 1-5 rather than just 1). This is accomplished by using the class attribute values startofrange and endofrange.
Coding page ranges
1. Determine the start and end points of any range you wish to code. Often, is a section or group of paragraphs that comprise several pages. Enter an indexterm at the beginning of the range.
2. Press CTRL+D to open the Modify Attributes dialog box. In the class box, enter startofrange.
3. Enter the same indexterm with the same content at the end of the section. Code the class attribute as endofrange.
Both startofrange and endofrange are required. An index entry for a page range looks like this:
<indexterm class=startofrange>
<primary>Psychiatry</primary></indexterm>

....

<indexterm class=endofrange>
<primary>Psychiatry</primary></indexterm>
