Arbortext Editor Changes
DITA 2.0 Changes
Arbortext Editor 8.2.0.0 supports the DITA 2.0 specifications.
New Documents Categories
DITA 2.0 is not backward compatible. The following document categories are added in Arbortext Editor.
Technical Information Application 2.0
DITA Technical Content 2.0
The original document categories are now renamed as Technical Information Application 1.3 and DITA Technical Content 1.3.
For DTD public identifiers of DITA 2.0 document types, refer Document Types Available from Arbortext.
*
In the DITA 2.0 Techinfo schema, the partno element is techinfopartno and the element subtitle is now techinfosubtitle.
Ability to Identify the DITA Version of a Document
To identify the DITA version of a document:
A new version attribute is added to the document type’s .dcf file. The version attribute in the Dita element specifies the DITA version of the document.
A new function dita_version, is added to the Arbortext Command Language. This function returns the DITA version of the document.
For more information, see the Checking the DITA Version of a Document and dita_version topics.
Changes in Elements and Attributes
The Keytext element is added. It can be used to specify the variable or link text; it also specifies alternate text for images that are referenced by keys.
The domains attribute is replaced with the specializations attribute in DITA 2.0.
The navtitle and locktitle attributes are not applicable for DITA 2.0 documents.
The print-attribute is replaced with deliveryTarget for DITA 2.0 documents. For more information, see the Support of deliveryTarget Attribute and Publishing DITA Documents topics.
The DITAVAL file can be assigned to an entire Bookmap for DITA 2.0 documents. For more information, see the Using DITAVAL Files topic.
New Option for Loading External Resources in SVG
A new preference option is added in the Advanced Preferences for more fine-grained control over loading of external resources in SVG files.
The new preference option svgexternalresources is available in Advanced Preferences of Arbortext Editor and has four values to choose from. The previous option allowsvgexternalresources is now deprecated. See the SVG, set svgexternalresources and set allowsvgexternalresources topics to learn more about the option and how to use it.
The previous preference option allowsvgexternalresources takes precedence if set to on even though it is no longer visible in the Advanced Preferences dialog box. If you have set allowsvgexternalresources but wish to use the new svgexternalresources preference value, then you must delete the old setting from the .wcf file.
New Parameter in siteprefs.xml
A new parameter AlwaysUpdateLinks is added to the siteprefs_template.xml file. You can use this parameter to force an update of links even if no changes were made in a document as long as it was saved. This is useful if there is a discrepancy between the links in the document and those created in Windchill such as reference links.
Preference set ditausenewrds is deprecated
The option to set ditausenewrds to off is now deprecated.
This option was introduced in release 6.1 M030. It specifies whether to use a new format Resolved Document for Styling (RDS) for styling and publishing of DITA content.
This option is deprecated in this release. PTC recommends to always use the new format Resolved Document for Styling (RDS).For more information, see the set ditausenewrds topic
Changes in Queued Transactions Dialog Box
The Queued Transactions dialog box now shows all publishing transaction requests on the Arbortext Publishing Engine server, including the requests made by other users. This enables the user to see the position of their requests in the transaction queue.
The information about the other users’ transactions is redacted. For an administrator, all the information is visible. For more information, see the Understanding Queuing on the Arbortext PE Server topic
The redaction rules can be configured by the administrator in the e3config.xml file. For more information, see the Setting Configuration Parameters topic.
